The 205. The 306. Two reasons, you could argue, to pity Peugeot today and why the 208 has so much to live up to. With hits like that in its back catalogue, is it any wonder that its latest chart entries fail to scale the same giddy heights? Those heights aren’t necessarily defined by sales, but by lasting affection and identity.

The Peugeot 107, and the near-identical Toyota Aygo and Citroën C1, might have fallen off the front pages now that the Volkswagen Up is here, but owners of the baby Peugeot will wonder what all the fuss is about.

As a pioneer in the motor industry since the very beginning, we have a proud history of technical excellence and innovation. In 1912 Peugeot produced the world’s first car with twin overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder. 1934 saw another world first: the 402 Éclipse Décapotable: a convertible with a retractable hardtop. More recently the world's first diesel particulate filter first appeared on the Peugeot 607 2.2 litre HDi in May 2000.

What we have here, then, is the facelifted Peugeot 107. The 107, along with its Aygo and C1 siblings, has been around since 2005, so it was due a spruce-up. The bottom line is that if you liked the previous Peugeot 107, you’ll like this revised one because it is mechanically identical.

As the 308 enters 2013 in a couple of months, it will mark 80 years of Peugeot producing a mid-size car with a ‘3’ in its title. The 301 of 1933 was notable for its independent front suspension.

Peugeot is also known for beautiful French style. Backed by 200 years of inspiration, we have recently renewed our visual identity, with cars like the RCZ. It was one of the most exciting and significant model launches in recent years, causing a sensation in the press and winning Best Coupé and the Design Award at the prestigious Auto Express Awards 2010.

Since 1894 when we entered the 1894 Paris-Rouen Rally with five cars, we have also been a driving force in motor racing. Now illustrious wins in both the WRC and Le Mans in 2009 are helping us to shape the future of the cars you drive.

These are exciting times for Peugeot, underpinned by fantastic new products and innovations. We look forward to the future with great anticipation.
